Late 2010, I was taking a short class on Public
Domain materials, or what was available for free reading. I came
across a book in the Public Domain that I had read over 35 years ago called,
"Jesus The Christ" by James E. Talmage and decided it was time to
read it again. When I read it years ago, I remember the feeling it
gave me, and how I loved getting to know the Savior better. I wanted
to have that spiritual feeling all over again.
James Talmage was an Apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints in the early 1900's. He wrote this study of the Messiah
and His Mission under the request and appointment of the presiding authorities
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He wrote this
sacred book in an upper room office while in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Most of you are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints (commonly called "Mormons"), but I promise that you
won't be disappointed with what you read, if you choose to read Jesus
the Christ. You will never be the same in spirit and knowledge
of Jesus Christ. You will understand more about Jesus Christ and
love Him more than than you ever thought possible.
There are 42 chapters in this book. I've added my
thoughts and underlining and bolding, so you will be getting a bit of my
take on what I'm reading and feeling as I read. I recommend that
you keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings too. This is my
gift to you. May the blessings of a testimony of our Savior, His
life and His Atonement, be yours.
