Household Rooms

Storage Area and/or Sewing room

Closets/Shelves and Books

• Clean out the clutter.
• Dust and vacuum books. (Donate old unused books to a library)
• Wash and dust the shelves, and walls if needed.
• Organize neatly.

Sewing Drawers and Equipment

• Clean out the clutter
• Take out each drawer and clean, dust or vacuum the casing
• Dust, or wood wax tops and sides. (Murphy's oil soup is recommended)
• Reline the drawers if necessary
• Repair as needed or donate unusable items
• Dry dust weekly all equipment, etc.
• Organize neatly.  (Take note of what supplies are low)

Window Dressings

• Vacuum drapes and sheers or hang them outside to freshen them, or if the weather isn't good put them in the dryer on the air cycle for 15 minutes (re-hang immediately).  Wash curtains if they are washable
• Wash sheers if needed
• Dust or wash blinds
• Wash windows

Walls

• Spot clean walls
• Clean framed picture glass
• If a ceiling looks bad enough to be washed, it's time to repaint

Floors

• Sweep, Vacuum, or clean floor and baseboards. (If floor can be waxed do this at least once a year - twice is ideal)
• Vacuum edges of carpet using crevice tool
• Wash dirty traffic areas, spot clean rug

Freezer

• Defrost freezer
• Clean and organize freezer
• Clean under freezer and brush or vacuum out coils

Other Chores

• Air out the room with outside air when possible
• Dust picture frames, decorations and everything else that could gather dust
• Check for cobwebs. (Put a damp towel or a rag on a broom for easy reach)
• Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs with energy efficient ones
• Wash windows, glass and mirrors
• A good time to move furniture for a change, is when doing a heavy cleaning
• Take out the trash and change trash liners

Outdoor Chores

• Wash out awnings
• De-spider the outside of the house with a strong spray hose
• Clean the barbecues
• Spray down the sidewalks and driveway
• Clean or wash all outdoor furniture
• Clean the garbage cans
• Clean rust from tools
• Clean the Window screens
• Wash outdoor windows
• Pull weeds for ten minutes a day.

Closets and Dressers/Hallways and Stairs

• Clean out the clutter
• Dust thoroughly or wash (murphy's Oil Soap is recommended
• Organize neatly
• Spot wash walls.  If a ceiling looks bad enough to be washed, it's time to repaint

Toys

• Remove broken toys. Give away, sell, or store unused toys
• Clean toys, vacuum stuffed animals
• Clean or dust VCR, T.V., and Stereo (and other electronic toys)
• Clean the T.V. screen

• Vacuum drapes and sheers or hang them outside to freshen them, or if the weather isn't good put them in the dryer on the air cycle for 15 minutes (re-hang immediately).  Wash curtains if they are washable.
• Wash sheers if needed
• Dust or wash blinds

• Clean out the fireplace when needed (more often when it's used)
