Having a HEALTHY FAMILY>>
Having a Balance of Healthy Spirit, Mind, Body, Family, Finances and Society is essential to every human being. Take one of these balances out of you life and you'll be traveling on a broken wheel. As an example: Healthy Family: - What happens when mom and dad fight and the children feel insecure or unloved, especially over a period of time? Each individual in the family suffers, and some may become depressed or even suicidal. When family relationships are strained, can family members work or study effectively, play together, or even feel spiritual and pray together? Getting a good balance in all of these areas of life will help every family member lead a positive and happy life.

Do you enjoy doing Genealogy?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the world's largest collection of genealogy records.  Most are on microfilm or microfish records that are difficult to search and obtain.

An amazing new program, has been initiated called Family Search indexing.

The microfilm and microfish records are being converted from film to digital by thousands of volunteers.  The work is done from home on the internet.  It is easy and enjoyable.  Anyone can volunteer - members of the LDS church or non-members can participate.

Last quarter there was 29,000,000 + names indexed.  There are 33,000 volunteers.

That means that the average volunteer is indexing about 2000 names/quarter.  (Each name is done twice to improve quality and accuracy.)  100 volunteers are joining every day.

To volunteer go to:    www.familysearchindexing.org

GOAL SETTING FOR A HEALTHY FAMILY:

  • What am I reading to support a Healthy Family?
  • What Homemaking skills do I want to excel at? (Cooking, Sewing, Crafts)
  • Do I support other family members by listening to their needs and desires?
  • Do I spend quality & quantity time with each family member and my spouse?
  • Is my Food Storage sufficient to last a few month in case of an emergency?
  • Am I buying healthy food choices and do I plan my meals for healthy eating?
  • Am I teaching my children, by example, to enjoy the fruits of hard work?
  • Do I relate, in words and deeds, my love, appreciation, and acceptance to each family member?
  • Do I help with homework, dishes, cooking, or cleaning, etc. without asking?
  • Am I still "dating" my husband/wife every week? Do I have a Family Night?
  • Do I participate in Family Reunions and create memorable family traditions?
    Should I keep this?
Eleven Questions I ask myself when cleaning my house...

    1.  Do I love this item or do I use it often?
    2.  Do I need this item or could I do without?
    3.  Could I use something else instead?
    4.  Does this item work as it should?
    5.  Is it missing any pieces?
    6.  Does it fit right?
    7.  Would I pay to store this item?
    8.  If my house were destroyed, would I replace this item with money
         out of pocket?
    9.  Is there someone who could use this item and appreciate it more
         than I do?
    10. If I died, would my children throw away this item – would it be of
         value?
    11. Do I have a friend that would let me borrow her item if I throw
out my item and then find that I needed it once or twice again?

    After asking the above questions...
When decluttering, have a "ruthless" attitude.

    1.  Should I move it (the item) to another room?
    2.  Where will I keep it?
    3.  Should I toss it?
    4.  Should I donate it?
    5.  Should I sell it?

Make a rule to toss or donate unwanted items with a small value, say less than $10.00 dollars.  Decide what your "hassle value" is and stick with it.>>
